We've all heard the phrase, "Money makes the world go round." While money doesn't literally make the world go round, there's no doubt that finances affect every area of life.
There's lots of advice, not to mention pressure, heartache, and difficulty when it comes to managing finances in a way that leads to peace, contentment, and things being taken care of. But what advice does the Bible have for us?
As we seek to "live out God's story the way Jesus showed us," we recognize that Jesus has some help for us when it comes to money and how to manage best the resources He entrusts us with.

The Bible teaches us some important lessons about money:
- Money is a tool (1 Timothy 6:10, Matthew 6:19-21). The Bible teaches that we are stewards of what God has given us – our time, the skills and talents we have, as well as our finances. Money is a tool we've been entrusted with, and we have a responsibility to steward those resources for God's glory and the good of our family and others.
- Money shows us the direction of our heart (Matthew 6:21). We spend and invest in the things that are important - our kids, families, homes, hobbies, etc. God provides for us so we can be taken care of and enjoy life; however, the question God asks of us is whether there's room in our hearts for God and the things that are important to Him.
God wants to be involved in every area of your life, including your finances. God created us and has a blueprint for how life works best. The Bible teaches us two simple steps about God's blueprint that lead to the kind of peace we desire in our financial world.

- Have a plan. The Bible teaches us to have a budget. To save, pay our bills, set money aside to enjoy life, and be generous (Proverbs 21:20, Proverbs 21:5).
- Be generous. Have a plan to be an intentional, consistent giver (Proverbs 3:9-10). Throughout the Bible, there's a pattern of those who put God at the center of their world – they bring their first and best to Him. The Bible refers to the starting point of that kind of generosity as the Tithe, and in the life of the disciples of Jesus, it goes beyond that.
