Matthew 14:29-31 New Living Translation (NLT)
29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said.
So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong[a] wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
I think many of us can relate to Peter as we cry out to the Lord, “Don’t you care if I can pay my bills, homeschool my kids, stay healthy and safe during a global pandemic?”
We are in the midst of a storm, and Jesus is asking us if we are going to fear, or if we are going to put our trust in the one true God who can calm the wind and the waves.
Jesus is with us through it all. Fear not, because Jesus is with you and holds you in the palm of his hand. His grace is sufficient for us if we will just fix our eyes on him and not the storm. Jesus give me the faith to not fear, but trust in you. Amen.
